Simien Mountains. “Roof of Africa”

Located northeast of Gondar covers an area of 400 Km Sq and has the most jagged peaks, craggy hills, deep gorges, and spectacular landscapes on the continent. Africa’s 4th highest mountain Ras Dashen towers at 4, 620m above sea level is found here. The Simien Mountains offer a rewarding trekking experience for those who would really love to be in areal wildernesses UNESCO has registered it in 1979 as a National Park for its immensity natural beauty and unique Fauna and Flora endemic both to the area and Ethiopia. The Gelada Baboon, the Walia Ibex, the rarely seen Ethiopian Wolf, unique wild trees, and Flowers lavished you with absolute splendor. The famous photographer Rosetta Forbes eulogizes the Simien Mountains as the place where the Greek gods came to play chase.

Bale Mountain. “The Hidden Treasure”
Season: November – March!
It is found in the South-eastern Mountain massifs of Ethiopia. It is Africa’s largest Afro-alpine habitat where the world half overpopulation of the Ethiopian Wolf and the largest population of Mountain Nyala are found. The largest rodent population is found on the Senate plateau. Over 265 different species of Birds have been recorded here and this makes the park one of the best bird-watching sites in the country. The Bala Mountain National Park is 400km (about 248.55 mi) from Addis Abeba and covers an area of 2200 KmSq.
Senate Plateau: This is the largest afro-alpine plateau in the whole continent and lies at an altitude between 3.800 to 4.100 m asl that offers a spectacular diversity of fauna and flora. This is where anyone can see the Ethiopian Wolf (Canis Simiensis)the rarest Canied in the whole world, the Giant Mole Rates the best meal for the wolf. It is bisected by valleys and volcanic plugs including the 2nd height Mount Tulu Demtu 4,377m asl. The alpine tarns are the most ecological features on the plateau which attracts water birds both permanent settlers and migratory ones like the Ruddy Shell Duck and the Wattled Crane. The only African all-weather road passes through the Plateau.
The Harena Forest: This is the largest extant of the Ethiopian Tropical Forest located south of the Sanatte Plateau and is home to some of the most unique species like Sheffeleria Abyssinica, Hayigenia Abyssinica, Erica or Jaint Heather, and wild Coffee Arabica. The forest is teamed with some wild mammals including the Ethiopian Black manned Lion, Menilik Bush Bucks, Leopard, Gray Duiker, Forest Hug, and the recently discovered Bale Monkey. Reptiles and amphibians include new undescribed species.
Sof Omar Cave: It is 115km (about 86.99 mi) from Goba town and the best known of the caves is a stunning subterranean world. This is an intricate system of underground passages and caverns, 15km long, the longest cave system in Ethiopia and possibly in Africa. Apart from its astonishing natural beauty, it is the most venerated religious and cultural site for the surrounding Oromo people named after Shak Sof Omar. The cave was created through millennia by the course of the Wabi Shebelle River resulting in an aura of a Cathedral structure whose pillars and columns are carved into an intricate shape through the rise and fall of the water level. The presence of the water glorifies its beauty, but it gives a sort of challenge to explore. An excursion from Goba or Robe can be made, and it is a rewarding experience.
