Harar

This medieval city of Ethiopia, with its 90 mosques and shrines known to be the 4th holiest city in the Islamic world, is rich in its middle-east cultural ambiance. The Jegol wall with its five gates and narrow alleys, the traditional Hareri houses, the late afternoon local markets, the nighttime hyena feeding ritual, the Koromi village, and the marvel valley are the famous attractions of Harer. Just half an hour’s drive is the city of Drie Dawa, Ethiopian second largest city where the historic railway between Addis Ababa and Djibouti is located.
